Getting it right for every child – update

The Scottish Government is currently consulting on detailed guidance that supports parts of the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014. This Act is a new law that will give children, young people and their families extra support and will encourage everyone to talk about children’s wellbeing using the same words. The consultation on the guidance is due to run until 1 May. It is mainly aimed at the people who support your child – including parents’ organisations – but individual parents are welcome to get involved if they wish. You can take part in the consultation via this link:

Glasgow City Council, Education Services, Breakfast Service Consultation

Purpose of the Consultation : We would like to gather your views and opinions on the future of Breakfast Clubs in Glasgow Primary Schools. There are currently four options (details included in the supporting documents) and we would like to hear your views about each of them. The proposals have been developed after research and consultation with selected Primary School Head Teachers and Cordia, who operates the Breakfast Clubs.

Option 1 – Discontinue breakfast provision

Option 2 – Retain breakfast provision but increase the cost for those eligible to pay

Option 3 – Clustering – breakfast club offered in one school for other local schools – children would attend the breakfast club and then and make their way to their own school

Option 4 – Discontinue breakfast clubs that do not meet certain criteria e.g. number of children attending/cost to run the breakfast club

The purpose of the consultation is to consider ways to reduce the subsidy of £2.0m that Glasgow City Council currently invests in breakfast club provision. Glasgow City Council wishes to minimise the impact of any changes to working families and those children in receipt of free breakfasts. In their responses, respondees are asked to take account of the impact of potential changes on working families and those in greatest need.

Please read the supporting documents before responding to this survey.
