REQUEST for parental help in the school on Monday 24th September
Hello, it’s that autumnal time again when the Broomhill Environmental Support Team (BEST) have a wee request for a bit of help. We are a group of parental volunteers who try to give a little bit of time to the school in helping to maintain the external environment.
There are a few jobs around the school which need be carried out in preparation for autumn and winter. Some in the Annexe (e.g. cutting down overhanging branches and sweeping up leaves) and some in the Main Building (weeding and general tidying in Broomchill).
Helping the school to keep the drains clear of leaves prior to the annual leaf drop is one example of where we as parents can make a real difference around the school as it prevents drain blockages and flooding in the playground.
No floods=No school shoes and socks drying on the radiator!!
We are also hoping to work with the school in their ambitious outdoor education plans and hope to help wherever needed. Two outdoor classrooms will be created this year to give the pupils a taste of learning in the great Scottish outdoors. There will be a number of exciting projects throughout the year needing the help and assistance of parents. Watch this space!
On Monday 24th September (holiday Monday) we will be working all around the school. Useful tools to bring are strong rakes, shovels, garden forks, shears and secateurs.
And if anyone sees a hardy bunch in the playground in need of a cup of tea feel free to bring us a flask over!! (Just milk in my tea ta!!)
Any questions feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Meet at 10am in the Annexe playground.
